Buying a property in Greece you get benefits in obtaining a visa. If you have a bargain and sale you get a multi visa for one year. It gives you a right of legal residence in Greece during 180 days in a year, namely, 90 days each 6 months.

Documents required for obtaining of Greek visa:

Application form filled in Latin (you can get it at the embassy or at the Greek Visa Service Centre) or follow this link
2 photos;
Passport, which will be expired no less than three months after the end of the trip;
Insurance covering the entire period of the required visa;
Confirmation of sufficient cash funds to cover trip expenses (opening a bank account);
The original certificate of employment/study;
Documents, which will confirm the purpose of the trip (invitation, hotel reservation, the labor agreement etc.);
Juveniles must have a birth certificate with them (if the minor travels with one parent, written agreement of the other parent is required, if he travels alone – then both of them).

Acquisition of nationality

You have right to apply for citizenship after 10 years of legal residence on the territory of the country. If you are a spouse of a Greek citizen the period will be reduced to 3 years.

Requirements for obtaining the Greek citizenship:

you should reach the age of 18;
you should not have criminal records for the last 5 years with a term of imprisonment of one year or more;
you should not be deported previously.

Reasons for obtaining of Greek nationality:

By birth (from Greek citizens):
In recognition of paternity by Greek citizen;
As result of adoption by Greek citizen;
Ethnic Greeks who entered in military forces in Greece;
By naturalization.

In case of naturalization, after 10 years of legal residence in Greece, you are applying to the Ministry of Internal Affairs for naturalization procedure. After the commissioner of the District your application goes directly to the Ministry of Internal Affairs of Greece. Next step is an interview at the Commission for naturalization where they check your knowledge in Greek language, history and culture. After consideration of the commission the final decision will be made by Minister. A positive decision is published on the pages of the government press. And the last step is oath, taken during 1 year after the publication, in the presence of the General Secretary of the District. After the oath you will become a legal citizen of Greece.
